Fw: Building Freeze - Message from an Israeli Mayor

scroll down to unsubscribe

From: Saul Goldman

Dear Friends,
Please read the letter below from Ron Nachman, the mayor of Ariel a so-called "illegal settlement".  Throughout history various agencies from the Church to the German Government de-legitimized and dis-enfranchised Jews. Today the movement to invalidate our identity and claims to our own land are being led by Barak Obama. Please resist such an effort by writing and calling your legislators and by showing your support for cities like Ariel. I do not believe that the United States is represented by Obama's policies. Our country was forged out of a Biblical vision of liberty and justice.  In the words of the colonial preacher, Amiel Abbott, we are the American Israel. Do not let America fall to a corrupting ideology that would alienate Americans from Israelis because some in Washington confuse the peace of justice with the peace of surrender and accomodation.

Message from Mayor Ron Nachman
The Building Freeze
December 10, 2009
Dear Rabbi Saul,

On Friday afternoon at 3:00pm, just one hour before Shabbat, I received a call from an Israeli Defense Forces officer. He came to bring me the building freeze orders.

What had been presented as a government statement, to be implemented at a reasonable pace and with sufficient warning, was all of a sudden propelled into immediate and heavy handed motion.

Young families, who took out mortgages to buy homes that were under construction will no longer be able to afford their payments, now that the entry date to their new homes has been pushed off by 10 months.

The Netzarim community, which resides in Ariel since the 2005 Disengagement from Gush Katif, has finally received the necessary licenses and permits to begin building a neighborhood of 100 homes in Ariel. The building freeze stops them in their tracks, leaving them in their trailers and shipping containers for yet another 10 months.

Businesses that chose to invest in the region and build their factories in Ariel's Industrial Zone are set back 10 months, paralyzing their marketing programs and threatening them with economic collapse.

Unfortunately, the aggressive implementation of the freeze has grossly oversimplified a complex issue. Even the environment is at risk, with concerns that Ariel's connection to the Dan Region Wastewater Treatment Plant may be postponed, or that its budget may be routed elsewhere for lack of progress on the long awaited project.

Prime Minister Netanyahu has succumbed to extreme and relentless pressure from the Obama administration and from Europe. I met with him last week, along with other representatives from Samaria and Judea. He explained that the 10 month building freeze throughout Judea and Samaria is a gesture to the international community, indicating that Israel is willing to take practical steps towards a so-called "peace" arrangement. Though he has not personally changed his belief system, he has initiated an unbearable situation with far reaching implications.

The City of Ariel, along with 14 other cities and regional councils, has issued a claim against the government's recent actions. The Supreme Court responded that it will address the case in the coming days.

We have been frozen in the past, but we have always persevered.
In 1980 Prime Minister begin froze us for 3 months, but that didn't stop us.
In 1992 Prime Minister Rabin froze us for 4 years. There have been many long term affects to that policy, but Ariel remains an undeniable reality.

Notwithstanding our strength, we need to understand the threatening nature of this building freeze. It means that we can't absorb new immigrants, because we can't build new homes. It means that we can't attract young couples to Ariel, resulting in kindergartens closing and schools shrinking. It means that people don't know what to expect from day to day, or what their community will look like a year from now.

No less harmful than the freeze are the government's budget cutbacks. Funding that went to Ariel as a national developmental priority has been discontinued. The repercussions are felt in the city's Department of Education, Social Services, Youth Department and in private households. Families who receive a 90% discount on childcare and nursery school are now required to pay 100% of the required tuition. No grants are given for young families to purchase homes in Ariel. No incentives are given to educators to come and teach in Ariel.

Peace will not emerge from this building freeze, just as no good has emerged from the previous so-called peace initiatives, beginning with the 1993 Oslo Accords.  This building freeze is yet another Israeli gesture towards an unwilling group of Palestinians. In the meantime, it causes unnecessary hardships to the people of Samaria and Judea, and it serves to delegitimize future attempts at creating some form of peace in the eyes of the Israeli people.

What will emerge is a strong Ariel. Without a strong Samaria the State of Israel cannot survive. Without a strong Ariel there would be no Samaria. The geo-political situation in Israel continues to become increasingly more obvious to Israelis and even to the Western World. The City of Ariel will continue to provide jobs for our Arab neighbors. We will continue to provide them with water and electricity. We will continue to contribute to a meaningful and lasting peace in the region. After all is said and done it is our commitment to progress and to peace that will prevail.

Sincerely,
Ron Nachman
Mayor of Ariel

Fw: Action Alert - Please congratulate Prime Minister Netanyahu on his speech.

Dear friends of Israel,

Please consider clicking below to write to US and Israel leaders, but before you go on, "scoop up" the following paragraph with your mouse, and consider pasting it into the recommended letter below. It provides balance that is very important for Israel's Prime Minister to have, and can go right after the first paragraph of the recommended letter below:

PARAGRAPH TO ADD TO THE LETTER BELOW:
Mr. Netanyahu, Your speech contained some sections I would not expect an Israeli Prime Minister to endorse or utter. First, I do not think that it is wise for you to stand before us endorsing  "two states for two people" nor do Israeli polls as a whole support the assertion that this is a majority view in Israel; the Palestinian Arabs, after all, do have a viable state esablished especially for them in Jordan last century, whereas Israel, the only state possessed by the Jewish people, will no longer be viable if a new Arab state is set up just a bike-ride away from Jerusalem, Tel-Aviv and Ben-Gurion airport. Firm opposition to a Palestinian state was therefore a hallmark of both of Israel's famous Nobel Peace laureates Menachem Begin and Yizhak Rabin, and is expected from you as well. Furthermore, it is not wise to rush to sign a peace treaty with the Palestinian Arabs, particularly not until they are mature enough to accept the Jewish communities of Judea and Samaria in a neighborly way -- as Israelis accept their Arab neighbors. Finally, "no Israeli government has been so willing to restrain settlement activity" is an offensive statement  accurately describing an extremely offensive policy. All Israelis have the right to build homes, schools, health clinics, farms and industries.

Unity Coalition for Israel

netanyahuThis Urgent Action Alert congratulates Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on his brilliant speech this November 9th, 2009. We hope it will encourage him to stand strong for Israel's sovereignty and security.

A video of his speech, delivered at the Jewish Federation General Assembly meeting can be seen here - 30 minutes.

The transcript is also available here.

A sample letter is shown below. You can send it "as is" or modify it as you would like. Click here to send now. Copies will be sent to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, President Obama, Secretary of State Clinton and select Members of the Knesset and the Israeli Consulates in the US and in Israel.

The letter you will send to Prime Minister Netanyahu reads as follows:

Dear Prime Minister Netanyahu,

I have been deeply inspired by your November 9 speech before the Jewish Federation General Assembly. I commend you for the positive message about Israel you have brought to the entire world.

Not only did you mention Israel's past achievements and commitment to the future in all fields of scientific, religious and humanitarian endeavors, but you clearly articulated the geopolitical and other necessary security measures that Israel needs to survive. And you outlined the stark contrast in approach between Israel and that of her enemies in pursuing a peaceful Middle East. You described the type of life that could emerge if Israel had a partner, committed to peace, with whom to negotiate.

As you stated in your speech, "any peace agreement we sign today must include ironclad security measures that will protect the State of Israel." This is particularly critical given the recent Israeli capture of Iran's shipments to Hezbollah on the Francop freighter, filled with 500 tons of Iranian arms, as well as the Iran-supplied Hamas rockets that can reach 37 miles, potentially destroying Tel Aviv.

I am very disappointed that one day following your fine speech, William J. Burns (Under Secretary for Political Affairs - a top US State Department official), said that the goal of the US in it's Middle East negotiations is to pressure Israel to expel Jews from Judea and Samaria in order to "end the 'occupation' that began in 1967!"

He went on to further indict Israel: "Our goal in the region is clear, two states living side by side in peace... an independent Palestinian state with contiguous territory that ends the 'occupation' that began in 1967, that ends the daily humiliations of Palestinians under 'occupation,' and that realizes the full and remarkable potential of the Palestinian people."

Clearly, with this biased message, the US State Department is not serving as an "honest broker." The Under Secretary's remarks came barely 24 hours after you met at the White House with President Obama for talks grudgingly scheduled for you.

Prime Minister Netanyahu, I feel that our US government, including our President and our State Department, should reinforce your peaceful message by providing a neutral viewpoint in their Middle East policy. They must understand that Israel cannot risk another Gaza-Hamas terrorist takeover within their borders as a result of new negotiations.

I congratulate you on your masterful presentation. Your overview will help to encourage and galvanize millions of pro-Israel American Christians and Jews who stand staunchly with Israel and with you.

We know that Israel, under your vigil, will continue her mission to serve as a "light unto the nations." May G-d give you strength to continue your successful leadership and to bring to fruition the elements you so eloquently expressed on November 9th.

With respect and appreciation,

Esther Levens, CEO and Founder, Unity Coalition for Israel

Let's thank the New York Mets who have stood up for us

Dear Friends of Israel,

You have a perfect opportunity to show your support of Israel, support
for the Jewish people, and to thank the New York Mets (sounds strange,
but it's true!) for standing up against intimidation by defamers of
Israel, posing as "civil and human rights" activists.

Left-wing internet activists have whipped up their followers to
barrage the Mets players and leaders with demands that they cancel a
pro-Israel event to be held at Citi Field on November 21st. That
union of haters includes those who actively encourage boycotts of and
divestment from Israel, ardent supporters of Yasir Arafat, and public
figures who claimed Jewish "money" pushed the US into the war in Iraq.

BUT THE METS HAVE STOOD UP TO THOSE THREATS! Let's send them letters
thanking them, let's show that we won't be intimidated and let'sgo to
the event affirming our ties to and support for Hebron, and let's
share this information with everyone we know!

Lets write the Mets---

Thank you for rejecting the request of hate-monger

organizations to cancel the fundraiser for the Jewish Community of Hebron.

By standing with the Hebron Fund you are standing with the Jewish
community at large.

Thank you for stepping up to the plate and hitting a home run for
freedom and liberty!

Journalism which Cultivates Hatred of Israel and Israelis

Journalism which Cultivates Hatred of Israel and Israelis

Hatred -- of any group -- does not drop out of the sky like rain. It is cultivated. Sadly, it has become necessary to ask the JTA (the news agency which supplies most American Jewish newspapers) not to inadvertently cultivate hate -- in particular, not to falsely accuse Israeli settlers of criminal deeds. This is important because unfounded hatred of settlers causes much of the unfounded hatred of Israel.

Here's an example letter that you can send (or write your own...):

Dear Jewish Telegraph Agency, Your website  http://jta.org/about  states that the JTA strives to be "the definitive, trusted global source of ...current events". But this past year you printed a series of 3 one-sidedly derogatory articles against settlers which does not fit this description.

It is my understanding that an Israeli grassroots organization, Mattot Arim www.mattotarim.orghas approached you several times regarding the most distasteful "fact" presented in your series:  "[R]adical settlers ...have ...thrown acid at Israeli soldiers" http://jta.org/news/article/2009/06/24/1005829/behind-the-headlines-radical-jewish-settlers. I understand that Mattot Arim told you they have carefully looked into this matter with settler leaders such as the spokesperson of the Jewish Community of Hebron, where the event allegly occurred, the Shomron Council spokesperson, Women in Green founder Nadia Matar, Gush Katif spokesperson and others and all believe that the allegation you published is not factual, i.e. not a single settler is known to have thrown acid at even a single soldier.

I also understand that you (the JTA) have claimed that an un-named Israel Police spokesperson made this allegation to you and you merely reported it. Could you, the JTA, take responsibility for your story and write to the Israel Police, inform them that the information they gave you has been challenged by concerned readers such as myself and ask them to corroborate their allegation by providing the JTA in writing some elementary details regarding their allegation (copy of the chemical analysis performed if any, who (names, dates) purportedly witnessed these events, were any soldiers purportedly injured and if so where are the medical reports, etc.). I would be pleased to receive a copy of the Israel Police spokesperson's response to you in due course.

Or, since we are in Yom Kippur season -- the traditional Jewish apology season -- could you simply publish a correction and apology indicating that (1) your acid story was challenged; (2) you have not found any facts to support it and (3) your acid story is therefore  retracted until further notice. I look forward to hearing from you, sincerely, (NAME)."

Please email the above (or write your own!) to uheilman@jta.org, to  info@JTA.org, and to Gary Rosenblatt gary@jewishweek.org who is on the JTA's board of directors. If you know anyone  else  on the board, http://jta.org/about/board, please cc them. And please cc us4israel@gmail.com  so that the necessary parliamentary action in Israel can be arranged regarding the partial role of an Israeli Police spokesperson alleged by the JTA. Finally, if you get a response from the JTA, please fw it to us4israel@gmail.com immediately. Thank you very much.

Please pass this on, particularly to Jewish leaders and Jewish (or pro-Israel) news media so that the JTA does not, in future, poison attitudes toward Israel and its citizens by careless journalism. Please note: No libel suit can be filed because the JTA article merely accused un-named "settlers" of throwing the acid at the soldiers. The JTA has avoided mentioning the name of any settler hence it cannot be prosecuted. However, the JTA very much cares about its reputation (even more than it cares about a legal proceeding) in the eyes of the public, so please -- contact them, explain that you are not happy, and ask your friends to do likewise. Thanks for helping Israel.

From Naomi Ragen: Our ardent Zionist friend, Lori Lowenthal Marcus, President of Philadelphia's ZOA, has been instrumental in starting a new organization to combat the pernicious influence of the far Left anti-Israel 'J Street.'. Her group is called 'Z (for Zionist) Street.' Expect the full barrage of Counter attack from the enemies of Zion. Let us organize and say we did what we could when others buried their heads in the sand. Background and positions of the organization:

Z street -- By Lori Lowenthal Marcus

There is a chilling scene in the 2002 movie "The Pianist."  In it the train was already chugging along on the path to insanity and destruction, but before all was destroyed.  The family of the protagonist has been moved into the Warsaw Ghetto and the head of the family is sitting at a table, reading a newspaper.  He looks up and says, "I blame the American Jews."

He was talking to me. (...) I resolved then not to be our time's analog of a World War II American Jew -- you know, the ones who read the newspapers, see what is happening to Israel, mutter "tsk, tsk" and turn the page. (...)

Z STREET is based on these ironclad positions:

The right of the Jewish people to a state, and the right of Jews to live freely anywhere, including inhaling oxygen in areas the world insists are reserved for Arab Palestinians; (...) Categorical rejection of agreements with, or concessions to, terrorists (or their supporters) who are dedicated to Israel's destruction.

Unlike other organizations that claim to be pro-Israel, Z STREET will not pander to politicians who invite us to their offices and pay attention to our pocketbooks but ignore our positions.  (...)

A fuel source previously untapped has been released: within days of the launch  thousands clamored to our site, asking how to join and how they can help.  Z STREET already includes members from five continents and more than twenty states.News articles are being written about Z STREET from the far right and the center, and we have been viciously denigrated and cartooned from the far left - all of which is gratifying.(...)

A very few World War II Jews acted as catalysts for those who refused to be cowed. (...). This band of warriors, led by Peter Bergson and Ben Hecht, staged marches, rallies and theater events.  They refused to mimic the Jewish leaders who shrank from their moral duty to demand the US government face the irrefutable facts of the plans, and then the execution of those plans, to murder millions.  It would be an honor for Z STREET to be compared to the Bergson Group.

I sleep better knowing that when my grandchildren ask me what I did to help prevent the destruction of Israel, I can tell them about Z STREET with a clear conscience and a sense of pride.  What will you say?

Naomi Ragen asks: Please join Lori and myself in gearing up for this battle:  http://ziostreet.wordpress.com

Israeli marchers to Obama: Let My People Grow (with photos)

scroll down to unsubscribe

Israelis protest Obama's settlement freeze policy (photos attached)

At least one thousand Israelis came to Jerusalem earlier this week to protest Obama's settlement freeze policy and the arrival of Obama's Middle East envoy George Mitchell, who arrived in Israel on Sunday. The protestors, which organizers said numbered 2000 and local press put at 1000, stood at Paris Square, near Prime Minister Netanyahu's official residence and then marched to the American Consulate.  "Yes to Israel's independence, no to American dictates" stated Hebrew language signs, with flyers reading: "Israel is a sovereign independent state; we will not allow life in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria to be frozen". Signs in English said simply: Let My People Grow, referring to the almost half a million Israelis who reside in the eastern neighborhoods of Jerusalem, as well as Judea and Samaria, also known as the West Bank, all of whose rights to build are being challenged by the Obama administration. Marchers rythmically chanted, "Mitchell go home".

The demonstration came just days after Independent Media Research and Analysis (IMRA) published a surprising poll by a prestigious polling company, Maagar Mochot, according to which Israelis regard settling Judea and Samaria as almost as important as the heavily subsidized national enterprise of settling the Negev and Galilee. http://www.imra.org.il/story.php3?id=44698. A huge majority (71:20) of Israelis also agreed with a tongue-in-cheek proposition presented by the poll, according to which Palestinians should be made to freeze settlement in Judea and Samaria (West Bank) if Jews were forced to do so. The poll also found that Israelis strongly prefer Palestinian autonomy over Palestinian statehood --  which is the concept strongly promoted by the Obama administration.

Not a few well known rightist Israelis publicly boycotted the protest which they said was too tame. "I'm willing to remind Netanyahu to be Israel's Prime Minister, not Obama's poodle," snapped Batya Medad, a well known Israeli blogger. "America would cut out the pressure if we sent them packing. The American government has enough trouble with a sinking economy, health care issues and Iraq."   Yair Mendelson from Herzlia, one of the cities that would be adversely affected if a rogue Palestinian state is established, told his email list that such demonstrations are "sterile", "useless" and "deceptive". The main issue, said Mendelson, was the "lies alleging illegality of the settlement enterprise", without which "the Americans would be unable to justify intefering in the legal, sovereign affairs of another state". Mendelsohn recommended to his distribution list that rather than demonstrating, Israelis and committed American Jews should work together to "restore liberty" to the national home of the Jewish people.

Rightist Knesset Members addressing the crowd included the chairperson of the Knesset's influential Law and Constitution Committe, MK David Rotem, who told the Israeli Bar Association's journal last month that razing of outposts for political reasons constituted discrimination against settlers. "It's time America realized we are surrounded by enemies here," Rotem announced tonight. Another Knesset Member, former Chief Medical Officer of the IDF Prof. Aryeh Eldad, said that half a million Jews were being de-humanized by settlement freeze proposals. The chairman of the National Union, the only rightist party not in Netanyahu's coalition, MK Yaakov Katz, told the crowd that as a Cohen, having a priestly perogative to bless the people according to ancient Jewish tradition, he wishes to bestow a blessing of another child in the upcoming year, on all families in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria. "This is our answer to Obama's cruel proposals," Katz, a disabled military hero who leans heavily on a cane, told the emotional crowd.

SUGGESTION FROM US4ISRAEL: Please ask your religious leader whether he or she is comfortable with the United States's attitude "freezing" communities numbering almost half a million Jews and let us know what s/he responds. Also, please contact your favorite radio show or newspaper about this matter, perhaps they will be willing to publish at least a Letter to Editor.

Disturbing food for thought:

A New York Times article by Jerusalem bureau chief and former deputy foreign editor, Ethan Bronner, dated June 6, 2009, sets out "parallels" between "Hamas militants" and "settler extremists". http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/07/weekinreview/07bronner.html

"There are striking parallels between the hard-core opponents of a peace deal on each side," explains Bronner, giving various examples, such as: "They are generally driven by a belief in a law higher than any created by human legislatures".

The New York Times has done a terrible thing.

* It is absolutely unacceptable to write about "parallels" between those Israelis (about one-half) who oppose Palestinian state and the Hamas. Doing so is not only a vicious denigration of Israelis -- it is a public relations boon of the first order for one of the worst terror groups in the world.

* Yes, any two groups of people have things in common. But when the New York Times chooses to write about what two specific groups have in common -- that gives a message. In this case -- the wrong message. Example: There are "parallels" between Ethan Bronner and Bin-Laden, for example. Both have a last name that begins with B, both are male, and both have issues with Israeli "settlers". But if someone were to write this in a mass-circulated newspaper, even though it is true, it would be an abomination. The only reasonable thing that can be said about Mr. Bronner and arch-terrorist Bin-Laden is that they have nothing significant in common. Similarly, a respectable opinion-setter like the New York Times should be the first to stand up and say that the Israeli "settlers" and "peace deal opponents" have nothing significant in common with the Hamas, because the trademark of Hamas is their concerted effort to slaughter men, women and children in the name of hate. So, the Hamas can be compared to other terror groups, and to organized crime groups. They cannot be compared to hundreds of thousands of Israelis - in many cases, ironically, themselves victims of Hamas.

The New York Times will hopefully improve if we ask it to. So, if you agree with the contents of this email, please feel free to forward it to your friends, and also to the following NYT addresses:

Friends of Israel urge the Government of Israel:
Improve Israeli hasbara!

If you think Israeli embassies worldwide MUST clarify that the Palestinians do already have a state -- because the state known as Jordan was set up precisely to be a Palestinian state -- please sign here: http://www.atzuma.co.il/petition/avishalomf/1/  and pass this on. Your signature will be submitted to the appropriate government ministries in Israel by an Israeli grassroots organization called Mattot Arim (www.mattotarim.org).

BACKGROUND: The fact that a Palestinian state has long existed, in Jordan, is best explained in British historian Sir Martin Gilbert's classic work,  Arab-Israeli Conflict: Its History in Maps. Read more about Sir Martin Gilbert, a scholar at the University of Oxford and an official biographer of Sir Winston Churchill, here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Gilbert.

Page 8 of Gilbert's Arab-Israeli Conflict is a map of what Sir Gilbert identifies as the "Palestinian Mandate, granted to Britain at the San Remo Conference in 1920, as the region of a Jewish National Home". The area of the mandate -- Palestine -- in which, according to the terms of the mandate, a Jewish National Home was to be established -- is clearly seen to include the entire state of Jordan. Sir Gilbert's text accompanying the map  explains that the area of Jordan was "separated from Palestine by Britain in 1921.... Named Transjordan, this territory was at once closed to Jewish settlement".

If your library does not have a copy of Gilbert's Arab-Israeli Conflict, there are similar maps on Internet, here:
REMINDER: If you think Israeli hasbara will benefit if this information is distributed,
please sign here: http://www.atzuma.co.il/petition/avishalomf/1/  and pass this on.
Thank you!

Thanks for helping Israel.

YOUNG ISRAEL MOVEMENT LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN TO SUPPORT ISRAEL

In conjunction with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to Washington to meet with President Barack Obama for the first time, the National Council of Young Israel (NCYI) is urging its 25,000 member families and Jews throughout the United States to express support for Prime Minister Netanyahu and the State of Israel.

The NCYI is launching a campaign which encourages people to call and e-mail the Israeli Embassy in Washington D.C. and express four fundamental points:

1. I support the State of Israel.
2. I oppose the division of Jerusalem.
3. I oppose the creation of an independent Palestinian state within Israel's borders.
4. I urge Prime Minister Netanyahu to stay strong and I support his efforts to guarantee the security of the State of Israel.

The Israeli Embassy in Washington D.C. can be reached at 202-364-5500, or by e-mail at info@washington.mfa.gov.il

"With U.S. policy towards Israel seemingly shifting away from what had been the status quo, it is imperative that Israeli leaders stay firm in their resolve and recognize that they have the support of the American Jewish community," said NCYI President Shlomo Z. Mostofsky, Esq. "With the future of the Jewish homeland hanging in the balance, it is critical that we make our voices and opinions heard so that the State of Israel is protected in perpetuity."

Received from Israel: Palestinian state is turning into a real problem...

scroll down to unsubscribe

Just received from Israel (re assisting Prime Minister Netanayhu who is trying to stand strongly against the Palestinian state issue):

LET'S GET SERIOUS ABOUT COMBATING THE PALESTINIAN STATE NOTION
We need the help of all major Orthodox public affairs and media organizations  in the United States to combat the Palestinian state notion. So far, only wonderful Young Israel has really started working to keep those rockets away from Jerusalem, Tel-Aviv and Ben-Gurion airport. If we aren't speaking for A LARGE GROUP OF PEOPLE, these organizations (Agudath Yisroel, AMIT, Emuna Women, Nachum Segal Radio Show, Yated Neeman, etc.) will simply say NO when we ask for their help. So, we need several thousand people to sign this petition: http://www.petitiononline.com/1eys/petition.html.
We will then promptly approach each of the Orthodox Jewish media and public affairs organizations in the name of the whole group and ask them to help.  Prime Minister Netanyahu's first trip to the US is in a few days time so please sign TODAY and pass on. Thank you very much. Notes:
(1) Please don't fuss about the precise wording of the petition since it does not matter at all.
(2) When asked for "state", simply write "none" if you live outside the USA
(3) Sometimes the petition doesn't work well, but if you click around, eventually it "lets you" sign. Thanks.

THANK YOU, KNESSET MEMBER DANNY DANON
Danny Danon is a Likud member of Knesset who represents Israel's Coastal Plain -- a highly populated area here in Israel, including many cities which will be within rocket range of Palestinian state. Mr. Danon will be holding a "no to Palestinian state" session in the Knesset this Wednesday 13 May at 10:00 AM. To attend, please email to ddanon@knesset.gov.il  indicating your name - preferably in Hebrew exactly as it appears in your teudat zehut, cell phone number and teudat zehut number. Your email should be entitled "ishur knisa" since the purpose of the email is to arrange an "ishur knisa" (permit to enter the Knesset on that day). Then, arrive at the Knesset at 9:30 AM and say you are attending the "no Palestinian event" in the Yerushalayim Hall in the Knesset as a guest of MK Danny Danon. If you don't get an email reply from Mr. Danon's office tomorrow, email again to make sure your "ishur knisa" has been arranged.

AMERICAN CITIZENS, HOW ARE YOUR WRITING SKILLS? -- suggestion from David Bedein
Establishing a Palestinian state means deporting more Jewish communities and handing over their  property to terrorists, following the precedent of Gush Katif. There are US Congressional committees that oversee all aspects of American Middle East policy - ONLY if they are inundated with well-reasoned calls and letters to do so. Give your letter a title which makes it immediately clear that you are against Palestinian state.
Write to (then call to follow up):
* Near East Subcommittee, Foreign Relations Committee, US Senate. Chaired by Senator Robert Casey (D-PA): http://casey.senate.gov/
Phone: (202) 224-6324  *  Toll Free: (866) 802-2833   * Fax: (202) 228-0604
383 Russell Senate Office Building, Washington, D.C. 20510
* Middle East Subcommittee, US House Foreign Affairs Committee. Chaired by Rep. Gary Ackerman, New York 5th District:
http://www.house.gov/ackerman/

Phone: (202) 225-2601  * Fax: (202) 225-1589 * Congressional switchboard, connects to all offices: 202-224-3121.
United States Capitol  Office, 2243 Rayburn House Office Building, House of Representatives, Washington, DC 20515

DON'T HAVE TIME? THEN JUST EMAIL "SAY NO TO PALESTINIAN STATE" to the following GREAT email addresses (thank you Young Israel):
Don't worry if some of the emails bounce and come back to you. If most got through -- that's fine.

REHOVOT SAYS NO TO PALESTINIAN STATE
Israel's 20th largest city, Rehovot, is home of the world-famous Weizman Institute of Science and was also home to Israeli former Presidents Chaim Weizman and Prof. Efraim Katzir and former Prime Minister Sharon. 70% of Rehovot's Municipal Council members (14 out of 20) have signed a letter opposing Palestinian state, in order  to keep rockets out of Rehovot. http://www.mynet.co.il/articles/0,7340,L-3711559,00.html. (in Hebrew)
