Take Action Now!

Condemn Palestinian unilateral action at U.N.

The Palestinian decision to go to the UN was a violation of the Oslo Accords and an expansion of efforts to attack, isolate, and delegitimize Israel.

House members are being asked to sign a Congressional letter calling on President Obama to send a clear message to Mahmoud Abbas and the PLO for going to the UN. The letter is being circulated by Reps. Ros-Lehtinen(R-FL), Berman (D-CA), Royce (R-CA), and Engel (D-NY).

Tell your Representative to sign the Ros-Lehtinen/Berman/Engel/Royce letter.

The letter calls on President Obama to send a clear message and to respond strongly to this action by closing the PLO office in the U.S. and withdrawing the U.S. Consul General from Jerusalem. This will show the international community that the US will stand by its ally, Israel and that such actions have consequences.
We call on President Obama to reaffirm our commitment to maintaining and enforcing U.S. Laws that require withholding U.S. contributions from any international forum that grants membership to the PLO.

Tell your Representative: now is the time to support our ally, and take these actions.

The letter also calls for a continuation of the policy blocking all U.S. funding for any UN agency or international forum that grants the Palestinians membership.

Tell your Representative: support U.S. interests by supporting Israel

This letter comes at a time when the Netanyahu government announced the approval of housing construction for its citizens on Israeli land. While the international community is silent in the face of the ongoing slaughter of tens of thousands of citizens in Syria by the Assad government, it jumps to condemn Israel. The lack of any clear and firm response by the United States to both the world condemnation of Israel and the real, actual threats facing the Middle East will only make the world a more dangerous place for all of us.

Dear Representative _____________:
SUBJECT: Please sign the Ros-Lehtinen/Berman/Engel/Royce letter
I write to urge you to sign the letter to President Obama being circulated by Reps. Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Berman (D-CA). Royce (R-CA) and Engel (D-NY) imploring the Administration to take appropriate measures in response to recent actions by the Palestine Liberation Organization ("PLO") that were hostile to Israel and detrimental to peace in the Middle East.
In recent weeks the PLO has engaged in outrageous conduct, including applying to the United Nations General Assembly for non-member observer status in defiance of U.S. policy and seeking reconciliation with the murderous Hamas regime, which is classified as a terrorist organization under American and international law. The PLO continues to incite hatred and violence against Israel and Jews worldwide in its schools, media and mosques. It names schools, streets and sports teams after suicide bombers. It continues to finance terrorists who have murdered and maimed Israelis and Americans. The sad and unavoidable truth is that neither the PLO nor its President, Mahmoud Abbas, is "moderate" and a partner for peace with Israel.
It is long past time to forgo wishful thinking. There must be consequences for the PLO's continuing war against Israel and defiance of U.S. policy. The Administrations should shutter the PLO office in Washington, D.C., summon home the Consul General in Jerusalem who otherwise assists the PLO, and cease all funding of the PLO. The American taxpayer should not be asked to fund a terrorist organization like the PLO.
Please be one of the signers of the letter to President Obama.
Very truly yours,
Sign your name and provide your residential address.

If you prefer calling, you can refer to the points made in the suggested text and urge your representative to support Israel and sign the Ros-Lehtinen/Berman/Royce/Engel letter. Telephone contact information is also available at this link:
http://www.congressmerge.com/onlinedb.

TIME IS CRITICAL. Sponsors of this letter will be gathering signatures only until the end of the week. Fax or call to your Representative TODAY and urge them to sign.

We know that this will require a little more time and effort.  But if you want your elected representative to get your message, faxes are the most effective.

Fw: Let’s embrace our friends By CAROLINE B. GLICK

scroll down to unsubscribe

Let's embrace our friends
By CAROLINE B. GLICK, The Jerusalem Post
May 18, 2012 (SHORTENED VERSION)
In recent years, poll after poll has shown that a majority of Israelis
do not believe that two-state paradigm will bring peace.

Two weeks ago, US Congressman Joe Walsh published an op-ed in the The
Washington Times in which he called for the US and Israel to abandon
the two-state solution.

After running through the record of Palestinian duplicity, failed
governance, terrorism and bad faith, he called for Israel to apply its
sovereignty to Judea and Samaria. (...)

The evidence that the two-state paradigm has failed is overwhelming.
The Palestinians' decision to reject statehood at Camp David in 2000
and launch a terror war against Israel made clear that they had not
abandoned their refusal from 1947 to accept partition of the Land of
Israel with the Jews.

So, too, the Palestinians' election of Hamas in the 2006 elections,
and their missile war against Israel from Gaza in the aftermath of
Israel's complete withdrawal from Gaza in 2005, all made clear that
they are not interested in a Palestinian state. Rather, their chief
desire is Israel's annihilation.

Consequentially, there is no chance whatsoever that the two state
paradigm can work.

(...)
FOR HIS unstinting support for Israel, Walsh has been subject to an
unbridled assault by leftist American Jews. Ron Kampeas from JTA, for
instance, attacked Walsh, accusing him of being no different than
Israel's enemies....
Kampeas quoted Robert Wright's
excoriation of Walsh in The Atlantic. There Wright wrote, "Offhand,
I don't recall a member of Congress in
my lifetime saying anything so grotesquely at odds with American
ideals about ethnic relations and for that matter basic human rights."

For its part, the Jewish-run anti-Israel lobby J Street is mobilizing
its supporters to bring about Walsh's defeat in the November elections
by soliciting contributions to his Democratic challenger. J Street
executive director Jeremy Ben-Ami wrote that "Walsh's prescription
amounts to a call for an end to Israel as the democratic home of the
Jewish people."

It is hard to know where to begin a discussion of this assault in
which Jewish Americans attacked one of Israel's strongest supporters
simply because he had the temerity to recognize reality and call for
the US to support an Israeli victory against our enemies who seek our
destruction.

First, it is important to consider the claim that Walsh went against
the grain of American ideals by suggesting, "Those Palestinians who
wish to may leave their Fatah- and Hamas-created slums and move to the
original Palestinian state: Jordan. The British Mandate for Palestine
created Jordan as the country for the Palestinians. That is the only
justification for its creation. Even now, 75% of its population is of
Palestinian descent."

The fact of the matter is that the two-state paradigm rests on the
assumption that the Palestinian state will be ethnically cleansed of
Jews before it is established. Whereas Walsh somehow stands in
opposition to American ideals for suggesting that the Palestinians may
voluntarily immigrate to Jordan, Kampeas, Ben- Ami and their cohorts
have no problem with the concept of a Jew-free Palestine and the
forcible expulsion of up to 675,000 Jews from their homes in Judea,
Samaria and eastern Jerusalem simply because they are Jewish.

(...)
PART OF this problem is their apparent unquestioning acceptance of the
myth of a demographic time bomb. They seem not to have noticed that
the Palestinian claim that by 2015 there will be an Arab majority west
of the Jordan River is a complete fabrication.

The truth is that if Israel applied its laws to Judea and Samaria
tomorrow and all the Palestinians in those areas received Israeli
citizenship, Israel would still retain a two-thirds Jewish majority.
Moreover, all the demographic trends for Israel, including increasing
birthrates and positive immigration rates, are positive. And all the
demographic trends for the Palestinians, including decreasing
birthrates and negative immigration rates, are negative. According to
Israeli demographic researcher Yoram Ettinger, by 2030, Jewish will
likely comprise 80% of the population of Israel, Judea and Samaria.

So Ben-Ami's argument that Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria
means the end of Israeli democracy is simply incorrect.

But aside from their hypocrisy and refusal to accept simple arithmetic
realities, what stands out most clearly in these leftist American
Jews' assault on Walsh is how they have become addicted to the fable
of the two-state solution.

(...) The beauty of the two-state fable is that it puts the onus to make
peace on Israel's shoulders.

If it is true that the Palestinians want to make peace, then Israel
must make peace. And if all the Palestinians require to make peace is
for Israel to quit Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem, then that is what
Israel must do, together with the 675,000 Jews who live there.

(...)
People like Kampeas are the first to bemoan Israel's sorry state in
the realm of public diplomacy. They decry Israel's hasbara efforts as
pathetic and failed. But what they fail to acknowledge is that it is
the two-state trap that makes the construction and execution of an
effective public diplomacy strategy impossible.

To maintain faith with this failed policy, Israel's leaders and
representatives are not merely required to ignore the history of the
past 90 years of Palestinian rejection and aggression.
They are required to ignore current events.

They are forced to ignore not just what happened in 1947, but what
happened at 7 o'clock in the morning.

(...) Happily, not everyone in Israel remains paralyzed. Members of Knesset
have launched repeated attempts in recent months to debate legislation
calling for Israel to apply its sovereignty over all or parts of Judea
and Samaria. Next Wednesday, MK Miri Regev is holding a conference to
launch a new Knesset caucus calling for the adoption of this policy.

IN RECENT years, poll after poll has shown that the majority of
Israelis do not believe that the two-state paradigm will bring peace
or that if a Palestinian state is formed, it will live at peace with
Israel.

(...) Walsh and the 44 congressmen who co-sponsored his resolution are
Israel's friends. We should take heart in their willingness to buck
consensus and support us. And we should give careful and responsible
consideration to their reasonable and supportive policy
recommendations.

Why are Anti-Israel Groups in the Israel Day Parade?

(Shortened Version)

http://www.israelnationalnews.com/Articles/Article.aspx/11612

Why are Jewish groups that blacken Israel's image given a place in the Israel Day Parade?

Richard Allen

The writer is a prominent New York business executive and an outspoken supporter of Israel.

The Celebrate Israel Parade on June 3rd is a joyous event, when we demonstrate our love and support of Israel. So why are organizations dedicated to boycotts, divestment and sanctions (BDS) being given the privilege of marching with us? One of these groups is openly organizing a boycott against Israeli companies, including Ahava Cosmetics.  Others have supported the infamous Goldstone Report.

New Israel Fund (NIF) was granted permission to march last year. Other extremist groups marched with NIF, displaying their individual banners, including B'Tselem, Partners for Progressive Israel and Rabbis for Human Rights. This year, New Israel Fund is to march again, and we expect B'Tselem and the other groups will once again join NIF, displaying their banners.

New Israel Fund has been receiving funds from the European Union, which seeks to influence internal Israeli politics through a front organization. NIF, in turn, funds Israeli NGOs (non-governmental organizations) which promote boycotts, divestment and sanctions against Israel.

For instance, five grantees of the New Israel Fund (Machsom Watch, Coalition of Women for Peace, Women Against Violence, Social TV, and Mossawa) signed a letter to the Norwegian Government Pension Fund, urging it to divest from Israel. Partners for Progressive Israel prominently displays on its website a list of Israeli products that it wants Jews to boycott. These products include Ahava cosmetics, SodaStream products, and Israeli vineyards. And the chair of B'Tselem's board, Oren Yiftachel, has publicly called for "effective sanctions" against Israel.  B'Tselem is a major grantee of the New Israel Fund.

Jewish groups that organize the economic destruction of other Jews should not be marching. Many prominent leaders, rabbis, and organizations have added their name to our cause.  We are proud to acknowledge the support of Ron Carner, President of Maccabi USA/Sports for Israel, Rabbi Allen Schwartz of Congregation Ohab Zedek, Rabbi Lisa Malik, PhD of Temple Beth Ahm, Rabbi Jonathan Glass of Civic Center Synagogue, Rabbi David Algaze of Havurat Yisrael, Rabbi Steven Axelman of Whitestone Hebrew Centre, Rabbi Ari Jacobson, Young Israel of Monsey/Wesley Hills, Rabbi Yoel Schonfeld, Young Israel of Kew Gardens Hills, and many other outstanding community leaders.

When Jewish groups hear that organizations linked to the Boycotts, Divestment and Sanctions movement are to march, they're astounded.  I believe the answer may lie in the ideology of John Ruskay, CEO of the UJA-Federation of New York. Dr. Ruskay exerts significant influence on the JCRC.  Published reports show John Ruskay worked with Noam Chomsky in one of the first bash-Israel groups: CONAME.  John Ruskay also gave over one million dollars of UJA-Federation donations to a radical political group, funded by George Soros, Jewish Funds for Justice.

Jews who actively work to economically sabotage Israel should not be included in the Celebrate Israel Parade. We ask that you join us in making your views known to the Jewish Community Relations Council and the UJA-Federation New York.

Reminder: If you too are concerned about this travesty, please forward this email for comment

Snub the Hague!

David Wilder
May 14, 2012

(...)
A short time before Passover a group of Jews moved into a newly purchased building in Hebron. Named Beit HaMachpela, the property is situated within the complex containing Ma'arat HaMachpela, the tomb of the Patriarchs and Matriarchs, just opposite a large parking lot, used by tourists arriving at this holy site. The building was legally purchased; Hundreds of thousands of dollars passed hands. One of the Arabs involved in the deal was arrested by the palestinian authority and sentenced to death. Sale of property to Jews is a capital offence, according to PA law.

Within days, following a government decision to leave the people in the house for at least a few weeks, until further investigations could be concluded, Netanyahu gave (...) a green light to expel the building's residents (...).

Last night HaAretz correspondent Chaim Levinson published an article citing the ostensible reason for the expulsion: Fear of the goyim.

Levinson writes
: (AG) Weinstein reportedly told (PM) Netanyahu and (DM) Barak that the expropriation of Palestinian land and homes, such as the Hebron takeover, could lead to Israeli officials being indicted at the International Criminal Court in The Hague…Sources in the Justice Ministry indicated that they fear the State of Israel or Israeli officials could be charged by the ICC, in operation since 2002. According to the Fourth Geneva Convention, an occupier moving population into occupied land constitutes a war crime.

Accordingly, Netanyahu gave Barak the green light to throw the Jews out.

There are a few minor issues here.
1. First, is the use of the word 'expropriate' (l'hafkiya in Hebrew). This is defined as dispossession of ownership, usually by a ruling power or government. In other words, any legal purchase by Jews from Arabs in Hebron, or perhaps anywhere in Judea and Samaria, is viewed, by the Attorney General of the State of Israel, as 'expropriation.' Purchase is 'dispossession of ownership.' It makes no difference that the property was purchased for legal tender. It makes no difference if the party selling the property agreed to the sale, and preferring cash to real estate.

2. The attempt to use the Fourth Geneva Convention to prevent Jews from purchasing property has already been disproven by the Israeli government itself. A position paper, published on May 20, 2001, by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, clearly states:

International humanitarian law prohibits the forcible transfer of segments of the population of a state to the territory of another state which it has occupied as a result of the resort to armed force. This principle…was intended to protect the local population from displacement, including endangering its separate existence as a race, as occurred with respect to the forced population transfers in Czechoslovakia, Poland and Hungary before and during the war. This is clearly not the case with regard to the West Bank and Gaza.

The attempt to present Israeli settlements as a violation of this principle is clearly untenable. As Professor Eugene Rostow, former Under-Secretary of State for Political Affairs has written: "the Jewish right of settlement in the area is equivalent in every way to the right of the local population to live there" (AJIL, 1990, vol. 84, p.72).

The provisions of the Geneva Convention regarding forced population transfer to occupied sovereign territory cannot be viewed as prohibiting the voluntary return of individuals to the towns and villages from which they, or their ancestors, had been ousted.

3. After all of this, since when (...) should the Prime Minister of Israel fear being charged with war crimes as a result of settlement of Eretz Yisrael – the Land of Israel?! Buying a house in Hebron is a war crime?!?!?

Roosevelt said the only thing to fear, is fear itself. (...) G-d did not command us to fear Hague, certainly not people, who, if they had their way, would have prevented the rebirth of our people in our land, people who did nothing to prevent extermination of between six to seven million Jews a few decades ago, people, whose governments participated, actively or passively, with Nazi Germany.

The Prime Minister of Israel, together with his government, should be an exemplary model of Jewish faith, of Jewish attributes, of Jewish pride and courage.
(...)

Bibi – Snub the Hague!

SUPPORT PRESIDENT PERES APPEAL FOR POLLARD'S RELEASE

Justice4JPnews - May 1, 2012

You can help! Sign the petition for President Peres now!

We are calling on all those who care about justice and humanitarian concerns to sign the petition in support of President Peres. We urge all who desire to save Jonathan Pollard's life to sign and to get family and friends to sign!

Just log on to the Justice for Jonathan Pollard website. Click on the photo of Peres and Obama. Or click on the link under the photo. That is all you have to do! Simple instructions will appear and in seconds your signature will be added to the petition!

Background:

We all want to take pride in Mr. Peres achievement; Pollard's desperate plight mars it.
President Peres is scheduled to receive the Medal of Freedom from President Obama in June. The obvious irony of Mr. Peres receiving the Freedom medal while Pollard languishes in an American jail is keenly felt in Israel. Consequently Israelis have started a petition calling on President Peres to use his influence in Washington and his prestige with President Obama to bring Jonathan Pollard home BEFORE he receives the medal on June 13th. Some 50 thousand Israelis have signed to date.

We need to double, triple and quadruple the numbers on the petition in order to strengthen Mr. Peres' hand. By giving him full support, it will be easier for Mr. Peres to show resolve and remain resolute in his appeal to President Obama, encouraging him to do the right thing, NOW, without any further delay, by sending Pollard home to Israel for the medical care he so urgently needs, and for the freedom he richly deserves.

With our signatures, we are not asking Mr. Peres to refuse the US Medal of Freedom. Nor are we asking Mr. Peres to link his receipt of the medal to Pollard's release. We are asking only that Mr. Peres use his superior diplomatic skills immediately and intensively to pull Pollard out of harm's way before he receives the medal from President Obama. Once Pollard is home, we can all breathe easier and take pride in this great honor that Mr. Peres is slated to receive.

PLEASE SIGN NOW, to lend your support to President Peres!
Log in now to the J4JP website and click on the photo!

Let's throw our weight behind President Peres! Let's help him to bring Jonathan Pollard home NOW!

Please share this message with five or more friends!

Subject: Two states, 'secure borders' and the tooth fairy.

    Dear All,

For your perusal  over  the Passover weekend - my latest  Jerusalem Post column  Two states, 'secure borders' and the tooth fairy

    http://www.jpost.com/Opinion/Columnists/Article.aspx?id=265058

As time goes by and events consistently refute their dogmatic doctrine, "two-staters" are looking more and more like "flat-earthers."

    An excerpt:

If a Palestinian state is established, it will be armed to the teeth. Within it there will be bases of the most extreme terrorist forces, who will be equipped with anti-tank and anti-aircraft shoulder-launched rockets, which will endanger not only random passers-by, but also every airplane and helicopter taking off in the skies of Israel and every vehicle traveling along the major traffic routes in the coastal plain.

Even if the Palestinians agree that their state have no army or weapons, who can guarantee that a Palestinian army would not be mustered later to encamp at the gates of Jerusalem and the approaches to the [coastal] lowlands.

    – Shimon Peres

My column last week was largely a historical account of the monumental failure of the endeavor to implement a two-state approach following the 1993 Oslo Agreements. This column will focus more on some of the conceptual defects and inconsistencies that made past failure – and will make future failure –inevitable...

....Take, for example, the following excerpt from Dershowitz's The Case for Peace, which shows that he is keenly aware not only of dangers that might arise from a Palestinian state but that the Palestinian signatory to any "two-state" agreement would be powerless to ensure his contractual commitments, even if he sincerely wished to:

A Palestinian state will not soon secure the monopoly on the use of arms. Terrorists organizations and militias – such as Hamas, Al-Aqasa Martyrs Brigades, Islamic Jihad and others – will continue to have access to weapons of all kinds. Even if the Palestinian state renounced all support for terrorism, other states, most particularly Syrian and Iran, will likely continue to arm terrorist groups dedicated to Israel's destruction. Nor is it out of the question that someday Hamas might gain control over the Palestinian government, either by means of a coup, or an election, or some such combination of both. Israel cannot be asked to accept a fully militarized Hamas state on its vulnerable borders.

In many ways, this is a stunning admission for a "two-stater."

Given the clear recognition of the potential dangers, several trenchant questions arise:

In light of the plausible scenarios he himself raises, what are the geographical parameters that Dershowitz proposes to provide Israel with "secure borders"?

What Palestinian could survive–politically or physically–the wrath of his rivals, were he to accede to frontiers that would provide Israel with "secure" borders that even remotely approach the parameters set out by military experts?

And if such borders are politically unfeasible, why advocate entering into an arrangement with some Palestinian counterpart who – by Dershowitz's own admission – may not be able to prevent the onset of situations which – by Dershowitz's own admission – are intolerable…and far from improbable.

So is it just me or are "secure-border-two-staters" seriously advancing a policy that is either unattainable politically or unachievable geographically? And if so, why? Are they being mindfully insincere or mindless inconsistent?  Read more

Japan supporting Palestinian presence in area Israel requires for strategic security

IMRA's Dr. Aaron Lerner, 21 March:
New: Japan is spending money in the Jordan Valley with an eye towards creating a situation ... that will deny Israel the strategic security provided by the Jordan Valley.

Compare -- Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu on the importance of the Jordan Valley: http://www.haaretz.com/news/netanyahu-israel-will-never-cede-jordan-valley-1.266329

Background: Read Japan's Middle Easy policy here: http://www.mofa.go.jp/region/middle_e/stance.html:

    * Japan pre-empts: Japan supports a two-state solution and will contribute to Palestinian state-building efforts.  -- although the Government of Israel has never voted to support Palestinian state and many members of the Government of Israel, as well as an official decision of Israel's ruling party, oppose the Palestinian state notion.

    * Japan takes the Arab side: Japan emphasizes that the conflict should be resolved based on the Arab Peace Initiative. Similarly, regarding Jerusalem, Japan stresses that it will not recognize what it calls Israeli "annexation" (sic) of East Jerusalem. Japan expresses deep concern about demolition of Palestinian houses - but not, for example, about Palestinian terrorism, or rampant Palestinian illegal building, in Jerusalem. Japan never expressed concern, deep or otherwise, about demolition of 9000 Jewish houses in Gush Katif.

    * Japan discriminates:  Palestinians are welcome to build in the West Bank. But building homes, schools and baby clinics for the local Jewish community numbering half a million, including the East portion of Jerusalem, "should be fully frozen".

    * Japan equally blames Palestinian terrorism -- and Israel's defense: Japan calls on "all parties" to cease "violence and incitement".

    * Japan hallucinates: Japan says that if Israel's borders are based on the 1967 lines,  Israel will enjoy a "greatly enhanced security environment".

    * Japan pities Palestinians but not Israelis: Japan is concerned that the Gaza Strip remains under "severe humanitarian conditions" and laments "the hardships and difficulties faced by the Palestinians". Japan does not express similar concern or lamentation about rocket attacks from the Gaza strip on one-fifth of Israel's population. Japan has provided assistance to Palestinians that exceeds 1.1 billion dollars. Japan does not report providing one single dollar to Israeli victims of Palestinian terrorism or to Israel's heavy expenses for its anti-rocket defense program against Palestinian terror rockets.
